Stop eating mediocre ice cream

Delicious ice cream + giving back

How we started…

Is it okay to say I was burned out in the corporate world? Because I was.

I (Tim)—am a former network engineer and IT architect who, after years of chasing deadlines and uptime, hit a wall. Right around the time COVID flipped everything upside down, I developed a life-altering disability that forced me to slow down and rethink... everything.

Somewhere in that space—between recovery, uncertainty, and trying to figure out what came next—I became obsessed with ice cream. Maybe it’s because it’s comforting. Maybe it’s because it makes people smile. Or maybe it’s just because it’s flat-out delicious. But I started chasing the perfect scoop.

As someone navigating health challenges, I also started looking closely at labels. I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find ice cream that tasted good and didn’t have a laundry list of additives I couldn’t pronounce. So I decided: if it doesn’t exist, I’ll make it.

I (Alex) hired Tim to help me scale my IT company (On Top of I.T.). We bonded over many things not least of which was our love for ice cream and Tim's desire to do good. From the beginning he was adamant - if we were going to create an ice cream company from the ground up, it was going to have a give back mission.

That resonated deeply with me.

And that’s how ScoopTogether was born—out of burnout, friendship, reinvention, and a shared belief that something as simple as dessert can bring people together and do a whole lot of good.

Read the label.

Go grab your favorite container of ice cream out of the freezer. Got it? Good.

Now read the back…How many of the ingredients can you pronounce (without needing a Ph.D?)

The problem: modern ice cream is not great. Either it lacks bad ingredients and has almost zero flavor (why even waste the calories), OR it is full of additives, dyes, fake flavors, etc. to make it taste good (and it’s awful for your body).
